Students in 9th – 12th grades are required to earn 25 hours per year unless they have already met their requirement. Please note: Only 15 of the required 25 community service hours each year can be attained by serving at Hartfield. Students that transfer to Hartfield after their 9th grade year have a community service requirement based on the number of years they will attend Hartfield (25 hours per school year).
Seniors must accumulate and earn 100 hours of community service before May in order to graduate. These hours will not include class or senior mission projects. These hours can be accomplished through the school’s service database or pre-approved projects.
When completing community service, students must obtain a form from the High School Office to be signed by the student and supervisor of the activity. The service forms will be returned to Mrs. Dean (High School Secretary) and a copy will be made for the student’s records. A record of students’ community service hours can be accessed on RenWeb.
Honor Graduate Requirements
Highest Honors: 93 and above in AP track curriculum.
Honors: 90–92 Those students in a Non-AP track who maintains an average of 93 or above will only receive Honors distinction.
To receive this title, a senior must have attended Hartfield Academy during his/her entire Junior and Senior years. Only students enrolled in honors, dual enrollment classes, and AP classes will be eligible for Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Beginning with the Class of 2015, a student must have completed six (6) semesters of high school curriculum at Hartfield Academy to be eligible for Valedictorian or Salutatorian. Early graduation deems a student ineligible for these distinctions. If the senior were prevented from taking higher level courses in a previous year (i.e. the school he/she attended did not offer higher level courses), this requirement may be waived at the discretion of the Headmaster and the Graduation Committee.
