Hartfield Academy is excited to announce the addition of Chuck Box as head baseball coach and assistant athletic director of external and athletic relations.
“With years of experience in coaching baseball and in sports administration, Hartfield is thrilled to welcome Chuck Box to our team. We are confident he will continue to develop our baseball team and elevate our sports media across the board,” said Head of School, David Horner. Box brings to Hartfield a love for the game of baseball, but also an intentionality with students. He is known for cultivating a winning culture, while developing individual players, evidenced by his 646 career wins, 8 championships, 40 college signees, and 11 professional baseball players.
He brings 24 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school level, including positions at Itawamba Community College, Freed-Hardeman University, Mississippi College, and Jackson Prep. He comes to Hartfield from Jackson Prep, where he served as the head baseball coach for 10 years and the assistant athletic director of external relations for one year. During his time at Jackson Prep, Box compiled a record of 283-78 with six State Championship teams.
Box has a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, where he played college baseball. He is married to Amanda Edwards Box and they have three children Trey (20), Isabelle (18), and Hazel (5).
