In January of 2015, David was selected by the Board of Trustees to be Hartfield’s 2nd Head of School and fully began those duties in June of that year.
David Horner graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1995. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College in 2000. Upon graduation, David worked in missions and ministry until returning to school where he received his master’s degree in Teaching from Belhaven University in 2003. Over the next 12 years, he went on to teach and coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Northpoint Christian School in Southaven, MS (formerly SBEC), and Jackson Prep.
In 2014, he accepted the role of teacher, coach, and Student Life Director at Hartfield Academy. During his first year, he directed the school’s chapel programs (called Awakening), established Arise Week – a time of local and international missions for the Middle and High School, and served with Dawn Martin and John Bakelaar as the Administrative team during the school’s transition in leadership. Under David’s leadership, Hartfield Academy has seen exponential growth. The size of the student body and campus have both doubled as David has committed himself to developing an excellent, Biblically integrated curriculum, highly competitive athletic programs, and consistency throughout all levels of the school. As a result, we are seeing students fulfil their God-given purpose as they live out Hartfield’s vision and answer God’s calling on their life.
David is married to Amy and they have four children, Robby, Daniel, Grace, and Cara.
